  • The Wallabies will wake up on Monday as the No. 3 ranked team in the world.

That seemed inconceivable after three consecutive Bledisloe Cup beltings, but here we are.

They’ve beaten the world champion Springboks 30-17. It’s their second win against South Africa inside six days.

Dave Rennie’s plan is coming together.

Any slim chance the Springboks had of a comeback was squashed when Samu Kerevi latched on to a Springboks breakdown deep inside the Wallabies’ 22.

The Wallabies will win back-to-back games against the Springboks for the first time since 2016 and on Monday, they will rise to No. 3 in the world rankings.

The Wallabies captain stood up when his team needed him.

The Springboks were peppering the Wallabies’ line. A try would have put them within reach of a comeback win with just under 10 minutes still to play.

But Hooper put his head over a breakdown, won a penalty and cleared Australia’s line.

The Springboks are still camped in the Wallabies’ half but with just over five minutes to play, a win now appears a very tall order.

I’m struggling to recall a better Wallabies try.

It was an All Blacks level counter-attack from the Australians.

The passage of play started well within the Wallabies’ half and finished with Koroibete scoring his second try of the night, just six minutes after he scored his first.

    The margin is now 13.

    Take a bow, Taniela Tupou.

Quick ball movement left the star prop in space down the left sideline, and he popped a sensational pass to Marika Koroibete, who scored the Wallabies’ third try of the night.

Quade Cooper’s conversion kicked the Wallabies eight points clear, making it at least a two-score game with just 17 minutes remaining.

The Springboks were penalised right in front of their posts and the veteran playmaker made no mistake with the shot at goal.

With 30 minutes to play, the Wallabies have a one point lead.

AUS 18-17 RSA after 51 minutes

Take a bow, Faf de Klerk.

The star halfback placed a brilliant grubber down the blindside and Lukhanyo Am pounced.

The outside centre gave the Springboks their first lead of the night but Pollard couldn’t add the extras from out wide.

The second half is under way in Brisbane.

The Wallabies have a 15-12 lead and will be back to 15 men in 90 seconds.

If they can maintain or build on this lead, it’ll be the first back-to-back win against the Springboks since 2016.

That was a frenetic first half.

The Wallabies have a 15-12 lead thanks to a Len Ikitau double.

Both sides have played with 14 men at different stages. The Springboks gave away a 12-3 start when Faf de Klerk was sent to the sin bin for a cynical play inside South Africa’s 22.

Lachie Swinton was shown a yellow card for an accidental head clash. If it wasn’t for the TMO, Swinton would have seen red.

The Wallabies’ pack is dominating at the breakdown and crashing over the gain line for the first time this year, but ill-discipline is hurting Dave Rennie’s side.
