James Turner, who was favourite, won the silver medal in the men’s 100m (T36) on the track. By his own admission, he started badly after being distracted by movement from the runner next to him.

Initially Turner said he’s let people down but a little later he was more philosophical.

“I’m thinking how I’m going to do things better next time,” he said after the medal ceremony.

“I absolutely let myself get distracted. I saw movement next to me. My body wanted to go with it, and I let it.

“I’ve got to put the blinders on for next time.”

China’s Peicheng Deng takes the gold in 11.85 seconds.

Australian officials considered a protest, but decided against it.

“I want to be in a position where I don’t make those mistakes, and capitalise on every opportunity,” he said.

“It’s hard not to win, but it’s pretty good to win silver as well.”

    Curtis McGrath grabs GOLD.

The former Australian soldier crosses the line first in the men’s va’a single 200m, winning another gold in 50.537 seconds.

Dylan Alcott does it and the tears are flowing!

Just remarkable. He was pushed hard by his younger opponent.

What a second set. He stepped up so well to take the opening set in the ’breaker and just ran with the momentum.

Alcott defeats Dutchman Sam Schröder 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 after a touch over 90 minutes on court.

That’s Alcott’s fourth Paralympic gold medal after his quad singles and doubles triumphs in Rio five years ago, plus his wheelchair basketball success with Australia’s Rollers in Beijing in 2008.

The Australian is within touching distance of another gold.

Alcott holds serve to race to a 7-6 (7-2), 5-1 lead.

That was a really decisive game and Dutchman Schröder couldn’t quite hold.

Veteran Australian Alcott now leads 7-6 (7-2), 4-1 and a successful defence of his wheelchair quad singles Paralympic title is within sight.

    Alcott leads 7-6, 3-1

He has all the momentum. He is up a DOUBLE BREAK in the second.

It was Alcott’s tie-breaker. He stepped things up and closed it out with the first of four set points.

    Alcott leads Schröder 7-6 (7-2).

    It’s 6-6, first set.

The pressure is rising. The opening set has been a story of distinct swings of momentum. Just what will the tiebreaker reveal?
