Itâs half-time at the Gabba, so why not cast your minds back to 2009 for a classic clash between the Lions and Bulldogs? It was the last time they met in a final, and makes for very good reading if youâre a Doggies fan.

Bulldogs veteran Easton Wood gave Channel Seven his thoughts on the first half and how tough it was to chase Charlie Cameron:
Charlie Cameron is a superstar. We know how fast and how great a player he is. I think in that first quarter, the way the Brisbane boys were able to move the ball through the middle of the ground. Some off our turnovers but some off their capacity to run in numbers. It makes Charlie a handful to play on out the back. But it has been a big arm wrestle toward the second quarter. We got the game back on our terms a bit. âBig Oâ is having a big influence at the start of the quarter. Great to see Tim English and Lewis Young even out the battle toward the second half of the quarter.
It was a late point from Lincoln McCarthy that gave the Lions a top-four spot and it was a late point from Marcus Bontempelli that gave the Bulldogs a one-point lead at half-time.
The Bulldogs took control around the ball in the second quarter and, but for a goal late in the quarter from the Lionsâ Mitch Robinson, would have been in control.
Joe Daniherâs defensive lapses have been costly and he needs to stand up with Jack Payne out of the game after he was concussed in a marking contest.
Brisbane Lions 5.3, 6.5 (41)
Western Bulldogs 3.4, 6.6 (42)

Despite trailing, the Lions are on top in clearances 22-18, tackles 32-27, marks 41-37 and, crucially, inside 50s 37-28, but they havenât been able to capitalise on their territory dominance. They also lead the hitouts 27-10 unsurprisingly considering Young is rucking again for the Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, the Dogs have the edge in disposals 189-188, contested possessions 82-71, free kicks 15-12 and scoring shots 12-11. The Lions have also committed more clangers 39-33.

With 2:30 left in the first half, scores are all square 6.5.41 apiece. What a game this is shaping up to be. It already has âSeptember classicâ written all over it.
Robinson finally got the Lionsâ first goal of the second quarter to end the Bulldogsâ run of three consecutive majors.

The Bulldogs have re-taken the lead with 7:18 left in the second quarter, and now find themselves up 6.4.40 to 5.4.34.
Three goals in a row to Naughton, Hannan and Weightman have seen the Bulldogs get right back into this contest.
Brisbane are still yet to kick a goal in this term.
Meanwhile, Payne (cut head/concussion) has been subbed out of the Lions line-up and he has been replaced by Lester.
The rate of scoring has slowed own dramatically in the second quarter, with just one goal scored by the Bulldogs, compared to a combined eight from both teams in the first.
Itâs still the Lions by six points halfway through the term, 5.4.34 to 4.4.28.

Payne is leaving the ground due to a nasty gash to his forehead after copping an accidental knee from teammate McCarthy in the marking contest.
And McCarthy is also leaving the ground with what looks like a knee issue from the same contest. Horrible luck for Brisbane.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are back within a goal thanks to a converted Naughton set shot after the young Bulldog took a lovely contested mark.
Itâs the Lions up 5.4.34 to 4.4.28 early in the second quarter.
Treloar is still yet to register a disposal early in the second quarter.
But heâs got his mates - Naughton (2), Liberatore (4) and Dunkley (5) have also been quiet for the Dogs.
The Lions lead by 12 points, 5.4.34 to 3.4.22.
The Lions look dangerous with their lead established in a scintillating patch of football midway through the quarter when they scored three goals from centre clearances.
Charlie Cameron kicked two of this three goals in that frantic patch with the Bulldogs midfield unwilling to defend the back of the square in numbers at centre bounces.
Itâs going to be tough to beat the Lions on their home deck from here.

A scintillating first quarter comes to an end and the Lions find themselves up by 11 points, thanks largely to the electrifying Charlie Cameron who has three goals to his name - that match-up against Easton Wood is already looking worrisome for the Bulldogs.
The Lions are leading the disposals 99-93, clearances 13-10, tackles 17-15, inside 50s 18-16, scoring shots 8-7, free kicks 8-5 and hitouts 12-6.
