Alistair Donohoe - also known as the “flying mullet” due to his fabulous haircut - has won bronze in the men’s C5 time trial.

He finished the gruelling 32km ride in 43:36.80.

Daniel Abraham from the Netherlands came in first, while Ukraine’s Yegor Dementyev came in the silver spot.

It comes after Donohoe claimed silver in the C5 Individual Pursuit earlier in the games.

Some big medal chances for Australia on the bike.

Here are the ones you won’t want to miss out on:

  • Alistair Donohoe in men’s C5 time trial at 2:47pm AEST

  • Donohoe has already won the silver medal in the C5 Individual Pursuit, and will be going for his first gold this afternoon.

Hello all. Sarah Keoghan here, taking over for Scott Spits to take you through the afternoon and the evening.

Some good news straight off the bat, Daniel Michel has effortlessly won his BC3 quarter-final 8-0 to cement himself a spot in the boccia semi-finals.

He claimed victory over Korea’s Hansoo Kim 8-0.

He will take on the Czech Republic’s Adam Peska at 6.15pm AEST.

On a successful day for Team Australia so far, runner James Turner was left immensely satisfied after his gold medal-winning effort in the men’s 400m (T36). Turner finished well ahead, but only after pushing himself to the limit towards the end of his race. He clocked 52.80 seconds.

“I’m quite emotional right now,” said Turner after his medal presentation.

“A lot of work has been done by a lot of people to get me here.”

“The last 50 {metres) of a 400 is always hard â€" the heat [in Tokyo] and the effort.

“My muscles started tightening up, I started losing control of them.

“But I was able to hold it together with my training.”

He explained his can-do attitude with the following: “I love pushing the limits of what I can do.

“Everything I do is to push the boundaries of what I can do and to show that we can be more than what we are now.”

The emotions were raw for Australian Darren Hicks, who was awarded his gold medal not long ago for victory in 24km men’s time trial (C2). Hicks finished just over one-and-a-half minutes ahead of Belgium’s Ewoud Vromant.

“I think I’ll be excited later on, but for now it’s just relief,” Hicks told Channel Seven.

“I’ve worked so hard for this, and I’ve wanted it for so long.”

    “I’m just so happy.”

Read more about the remarkable story of Hicks, a former truck driver, who lost his leg in an accident where two people were killed. TOM DECENT in Tokyo reported last week after his silver medal in the 3000m individual pursuit on the track.

Gold medallist James Turner had to receive some medical attention after his race, but we’re told it wasn’t anything serious or heat related, just to do with his cerebral palsy after an event. He was ecstatic after the race (the men’s 400m T36 event) and could be seen thumping his fists on the ground yelling out in delight. His medal ceremony is coming up and if he wasn’t wearing a mask, there’d be a grin from ear to ear.

BOOM! Aussie James Turner wins gold in the 400m T36 event. Well clear with 200m to go and streaks home for a comfortable win. It’s a Paralympic record as Turner clocks a time of 52.80, ahead of second in 53.60. It’s Australia’s second gold on the track and he’s already draped in an Australian flag.

“It’s my job to win, that’s what I’m her to do,” Turner told Channel Seven post-race.

“It means the world to me [to win another medal].”

Turner burst onto the scene in Rio when he gold in the men’s 800m T36, an event now removed from the program.

“If I can give confidence to at least one kid with a disability then I’ve done my job well.”

Channel Seven is reporting that the Australian collapsed after his media interview and was attended to by medical personnel, such was his exertion to win that gold.

Jaryd Clifford has reflected on his 1500m bronze medal (T13)t to go with with his silver in the 5000m last week. The Aussie’s time of 3:54.69 was 13 seconds outside his world record he set earlier this year (3:41.34). The marathon awaits him this weekend.

“I knew the 1500m was going to be the toughest event here,” Clifford said.

“Because the 800m has been taken off the Paralympic program, the 1500m is stacked with guys who are extremely good runners.

“I would have liked to have gone quicker. I’m the world record holder but they’re only a second behind me, and if I lead it out, they’ll sit on me and they’re quick enough to do that.

“I was kind of in a pickle. I don’t know. I’m happy with that, knowing the guys who beat me are both sub-1:50 800m runners and I haven’t run many 800m events in my career, I’m coming down from longer stuff.”
