Armed police called to Bolton street over gun threat man

Police were called to deal with a man 'threatening' a woman with a gun on Saturday afternoon.

Around 4.30pm on August 14 police were rushed to Ivy Road in Bolton to reports of a man threatening a woman with what was thought to be a handgun.

'Specialist officers' were sent to the scene, according to police, where an imitation firearm was recovered from the man.

A GMP spokesman said: "Police were called shortly after 4.35pm on Saturday 14 August to a report of a man threatening a woman with a handgun on Ivy Road, Bolton.

"Specialist officers attended and an imitation firearm was recovered.

"A man was detained under the mental health act and a care plan has been put in place for his treatment."
