This is another contentious one. Weightman is taken high by Draper, according to the umpire.
An easy set shot is a goal.
Dogs take the lead back.
Merrettâs kick into the Bombers inside 50 was bad. The ball rebounded out of defence quickly because of that and it led to the Weightman goal.

Aaron Naughton responds with a brilliant snap set shot from the boundary.
He had the shot courtesy of an insufficient intent call against Dylan Shiel.
It was harsh, but the Dogs will take it.

Two in a row now for the Bombers.
Draper monsters Young in the ruck and the ball is rushed forward from his kick, and Parish finishes from close range.
Interesting the Bulldogs still arenât predominantly rucking English.

Lewis Young gives away 50m when he runs into the protected zone of Devon Smith.
Really, really sloppy. A blow up. Canât do that ever, let alone in a final.
Smith from 45m, directly in front kicks the goal.

Itâs been a tight opening in Launceston, and while both these sides have regularly cracked the ton in 2021 today doesnât look like being one of those days, especially after the rain began to tumble midway through the first quarter.
The Dons got the game on their terms early, spreading the Bulldogs wide and getting plenty of looks. Fittingly, Jake Stringer snapped the matchâs first goal. But the Bombers - despite tackling strongly - have been wayward.
They missed a gimme when Dylan Shiel dropped a sitter at full-forward and Aaron Francis blew the follow-up.
It is bucketing down in Launceston.
Dogs get the first clearance of the quarter and a deep inside 50 ... the ball in the hands of Tim English.
He misses an easy shot, one he should have kicked. It slams into the post.

WB 2.1.13 ESS 1.4.10 at the first break.
Essendon should have more than one goal given the chances theyâve missed and the early running they had. Aaron Francisâ miss was the worst. Otherwise he and his teammates have been great,
Bulldogs did really well to work their way back into the game.
Rain in Launceston has complicated things too. Feels like a classic is looming.
Mitch Hannan capitalises on some good team pressure and snaps one through.
Theyâve endured a poor start and a good start by Essendon to lead. Thatâs impressive.
They got out the back of the Bombers and even with Essendonâs good defending they kept it alive to score through the former Melbourne man Hannan.

Cody Weightman wins a free kick for a high tackle. He went low and raised the arm to push the tackle higher, although the tackle did originally land high. Set shot sails through.
Much needed goal. Theyâve got a little foothold in the game now.
